‘Me Generation’ on the Freeways

Letter writer Ken Hatton (Sept. 20) may be a newcomer to Southern California, but he evidently has very quickly learned the “Rules of the Road According to the Southern California Me Generation.”
On my daily 40-mile round-trip commute, I observe Ken Hattons every mile of the way, darting from lane to lane, hugging the bumpers of the cars in front of them, seething with frustration at the drivers who, by driving an average speed of 65 m.p.h., interfere with their God-given right to drive 75 to 80 m.p.h.
The 50-m.p.h. driver Hatton refers to is as rare as a smogless day in L.A. and thus is seldom a source of frustration to the average driver. The 75-to-80-m.p.h. driver is an ever-present menace, displaying a selfishness and an arrogance that has become par for the course on our freeways. Where is Eric Estrada when you need him?
