Guard, 2 Inmates Burned in Texas Prison Explosion

SUGAR LAND, Tex. — A guard and two inmates were burned in a prison explosion believed caused when the guard lit a cigarette and ignited a pocket of natural gas, officials said Saturday.
About 350 of the 925 inmates at the state Corrections Department’s Central Unit were transferred to prison units in Huntsville while repairs were being made after the explosion Friday.
