Murphy 21, Village Christian 6--Murphy capitalized on two first-quarter interceptions by linebacker Peter VanDenBerg to build a 14-0 lead en route to a nonleague victory at Kennedy High.
VanDenBerg intercepted a pass by Crusader quarterback Drew Martenson and returned it 49 yards for a touchdown early in first quarter. VanDenBerg’s second interception set up a 16-yard touchdown run by Noble tailback Terrence Kendricks.
Village Christian (1-2) scored just before halftime when Martenson connected with receiver Greg Lloyd on a 19-yard pass play.
