Musgrave’s Third Scoring Pass Lifts Oregon Over San Diego St.

EUGENE, Ore. — Red-shirt freshman Bill Musgrave threw three touchdown passes, the last with 1:41 to play, Saturday to lead Oregon to a 25-20 come-from-behind nonconference victory over San Diego State.
Musgrave, making his home debut, directed the Ducks on a 10-play, 96-yard drive for the winning touchdown, passing 5 yards to Rod Green in the right corner of the end zone.
A 32-yard pass to Green and two San Diego State face-mask penalties helped set up the touchdown.
San Diego State’s Todd Santos completed 26 of 47 passes for 329 yards and 2 touchdowns. He has a career total of 8,728 yards passing, moving him past Joe Adams of Tennessee State and Robbie 1114600291the National Collegiate Athletic Assn.’s all-time list.
Santos threw a three-yard touchdown pass to Kerry Reed-Martin early in the second quarter that gave San Diego State a 13-8 lead, and his five-yard touchdown pass to Robert Claiborne late in that period gave the Aztecs (2-2) to a 20-16 halftime lead.
Musgrave completed 12 of 23 passes for 227 yards for Oregon (2-1).
Musgrave had a 33-yard pass play to J.J. Birden for one score and a 30-yarder to Green for another in the first half. A pair of two-point conversions gave the Ducks 16 points at halftime.
A 46-yard field goal by Kirk Dennis cut the Aztec lead to 20-19 in the third quarter.
