See Peter Rabbit. He Looks Sad . . .

Traditionalists are not the only ones hopping mad about the new edition of Beatrix Potter’s “The Tale of Peter Rabbit.” So is my 10-year-old surfer.
My son, with fond memories of bedtimes with Peter, cannot imagine why anyone would want to change these classics. The only consolation I take after reading your article is that despite his half-shaved head and clownish surf clothes, my son can recognize beauty and want to preserve it.
Why does Ladybird Books want to deny poor children the same pleasures? Surely they, more than anyone, deserve a little beauty in their lives.
