Vons Cos. posted a loss of $2.44 million for the year ended June 27, down from a loss of $54.8 million in fiscal 1986. Revenue grew 18% to $3.18 billion, the El Monte-based chain said. Last year’s results were hurt by a $14.8-million charge for pre-1986 self-insurance reserve losses, as well as the adverse impact of an eight-week strike, the company said.
