In what Newport Beach Police described as “an unusual crime,” an armed robber Monday afternoon held up a man in the Newport Center business area and stole his $95,000 Porsche.
Police said the victim of the theft, stockbroker Michael Harden, 45, Laguna Beach, had parked his car in the Civic Plaza area about 4:40 p.m. and was preparing to go to work. The armed man approached Harden, pulled a pistol and demanded the car, police said.
The gunman then got in the car and drove toward Newport Center Drive, officers said. Police said Monday night they were looking for the suspect and the blue 1987 Porsche custom 930 Turbo he stole.
