Charter Air Carrier Settles Crash Suits

MIAMI — Arrow Air has reached a settlement with the families of 10 soldiers who were killed in the crash of a charter flight in Gander, Newfoundland, two years ago, officials announced Monday.
The cases were settled four days before they were scheduled for trial, said lawyer R. W. Payne, who represented the plaintiffs. The suit had alleged poor aircraft maintenance and flight operations.
A court order by Dade County Circuit Judge Joseph P. Farina prohibited release of details of the settlement, but Payne said that it involved several millions of dollars.
