Fifteen warships carrying more than 13,000 sailors and Marines are scheduled to leave from East Coast ports today for what Navy officials called a routine deployment in the Mediterranean. Twelve vessels, including the 63,000-ton aircraft carrier Coral Sea, will sail from Norfolk, Va., and three will depart from Charleston, S.C. This will be the first time that a carrier battle group and an amphibious ready group, which contains ships carrying Marines, have deployed together, the Navy said.
