Local News in Brief : No Bail for Suspect in Marshal’s Slaying

An Oakland fugitive suspected of gunning down an off-duty Los Angeles County marshal in an Alhambra restaurant last September was ordered held without bail in Boston Friday pending an extradition hearing.
Kien Vinh Ly, 23, pleaded innocent in Boston Municipal Court to a charge of being a fugitive from justice. He was ordered held without bail until an April 10 extradition hearing, authorities said.
He was arrested by the Boston Police Drug Control Unit in a grocery store Thursday night in Boston’s Chinatown section, police said.
Ly, also known as Steven Vinh Ly, is wanted in the Sept. 2, 1988, killing of Los Angeles County Deputy Marshal Henry Wong, who police said was killed after ejecting Ly from the restaurant for causing a disturbance.
