Triteamtri and Stylish Winner, part of the most unpredictable finish in Santa Anita Handicap history, and Ruhlmann, who set a track record with a 1:33 2/5 mile in another race the same day, make up half the field Sunday in Santa Anita’s $300,000 San Bernardino Handicap.
High weight in the 1 1/8-mile race is Lively One, who will carry 120 pounds, one more than his stablemate, Ruhlmann.
In post-position order, with jockeys and weights, this is the field:
Good Taste, Russell Baze, 113 pounds; Saratoga Passage, Eddie Delahoussaye, 115; Ruhlmann, Pat Valenzuela, 119; Lively One, Robbie Davis, 120; Stylish Winner, Corey Black, 113; and Triteamtri, Gary Stevens, 118.
The first three finishers in the $1-million Big ‘Cap last month were the longest prices on the board. Martial Law, at 50-1, finished almost two lengths ahead of Triteamtri, who was 40-1, and Stylish Winner, the 80-1 shot, was a head farther back in third place.
Saratoga Passage, who won the Norfolk at Santa Anita as a 2-year-old in 1987, also ran on Big ‘Cap day, finishing third, about four lengths behind Ruhlmann.
In today’s $200,000 Santa Barbara Handicap, at 1 1/4 miles on grass for fillies and mares, Annoconnor resumes a campaign that is designed to take her to the Arlington Million at the end of the summer.
