Local News in Brief : Hearing Set on TV Contract
- Share via
The Palos Verdes Estates City Council will hold a public hearing April 11 on renewal of the cable television franchise of Times Mirror Cable Television. The company’s contract has expired and a new one will include a commitment to provide service in areas not yet served.
The council granted Times Mirror Cable a temporary extension for existing service until July 31 while details of a new 10-year contract are negotiated.
Under a 13-year-old franchise with the cable company, 60% of the city, or about 3,200 homes, has cable access. The new agreement, which has been under negotiation for a year, would provide access for the remaining 1,800 homes.
The hearing will be held at the 7:30 p.m. council meeting.
