Singapore Army to Stage War Games in Taiwan

TAIPEI, Taiwan — The Singapore army will hold a series of military training maneuvers in Taiwan this month, a spokesman for Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense said Friday.
The war games could involve as many as 10,000 Singaporean troops and will be the largest single military exercise staged in Taiwan by the small city-state, analysts said.
Singapore has long used Taiwan army facilities to train its troops, but both sides have publicly played down their military cooperation until recently.
Singapore has no diplomatic ties with Taipei but unofficial bilateral links are strong.
