Agatha at Home

With the success of the Chamber Music in Historic Sites series, it was inevitable that someone would come up with a Theater in Historic Sites.
In what is hoped will be the first in a series, the Los Angeles Stock Company is presenting Agatha Christie’s “The Mousetrap” in the evocatively Victorian Kelly House, 1140 W. Adams Blvd.
Profits from the current production are in part going to the Friends of Menlo Avenue Historic District to battle the Community Redevelopment Agency plan to bulldoze a portion of the neighborhood for a supermarket.
Preservationists are trying to convince the city that if space is needed for a new market, perhaps the neighborhood would be better served if a few of the numerous liquor stores there be bulldozed instead of the old houses.
