Controversy Over Duke
We’ve seen the real face of racism in America. It’s not a fascist yelling from a podium, it’s not a gang of cross-burning cowards hiding their faces under sheets or skull-smashing storm troopers. It’s worse than that. It’s David Duke.
He’s the symbol of America in the 1980s. Handsome, affluent, and likable with one grave exception: He’s a racist.
The fact that he’s been elected is a tribute to free democracy and the American way of life; however, with this freedom comes the responsibility to vote. The horror story from Louisiana is the best recent example of why every citizen must be involved in the electoral process. Let’s not allow the election of the next Adolf Hitler. After 213 years, I hope we’ve come at least that far.
