Raisa Gorbachev Walks Back in Time--Irish Style

SHANNON, Ireland — Raisa Gorbachev on Sunday took a walk back into time with a visit to a re-created, 19th-Century rural Irish village.
She went on a 35-minute walk around the re-created village at Bunratty Folk Park while her husband, Soviet President Mikhail S. Gorbachev, held talks with Irish Prime Minister Charles Haughey during a refueling stop in Ireland en route to Cuba.
Clearly charmed by the sight of a donkey cart carrying peat logs, she said: “We live in a space age now, but it is a pleasure to see something like this.”
After patting the donkey, she added, “Our children will soon cease to see sights like this.”
