Fans attending tonight’s opener between the Oakland Athletics and Seattle Mariners in the Oakland Coliseum may be forced to bring their own refreshments because of a threatened strike by vendors.
Canteen/Volume Service, contracted by the Coliseum to operate concession stands, cut short talks with Local 28 of the Hotel and Restaurant Employees Union Saturday night and set the next round of meetings for Tuesday, according to union spokesman Lincoln Smith.
