CSX Corp.: The Richmond, Va.-based energy and transportation holding company reported first-quarter profit of $82 million, a gain of 26% over a year ago. Revenue grew 6% to $1.8 billion. The results were credited to higher rail revenue due to improved rates and strong coal shipments and increased container-shipping income due to expanded operations in the Pacific as well as stronger rates for exports to Pacific Rim countries. The firm also cited a gain on the sale of Trailer Train Co. stock.
