LOCAL : School Bus Driver, Student Injured

A school bus smashed into the back of a disabled garbage truck early today on Century Boulevard under the Harbor Freeway overpass, seriously injuring the driver and a blind special education student, authorities said.
Driver Ann Suber, 50, and the 13-year-old blind girl, the sole passenger, were taken to Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center following the 6:05 a.m. collision.
The girl, whose name was not immediately released, suffered a broken leg. The driver, who was trapped in the bus for 20 minutes until she was cut free by firefighters, sustained major injuries.
