Oscars Win the Night; NBC Wins the Week : TV RATINGS

With its best showing in five years, the Academy Awards telecast on ABC easily topped the prime-time ratings released Tuesday by the A.C. Nielsen Co. But that wasn’t enough to prevent NBC from placing first for the 41st week in a row. NBC did not set a new record for consecutive wins, however, as it thought it might last week. The network said that further research had revealed that CBS captured 46 weeks in a row in 1962-63. The full list of this week’s ratings is on Page 9.
* ABC’s hopes of reviving “Moonlighting” by bringing it back in a new time period with seven new episodes were rudely dashed Sunday. The once-popular series bombed--finishing fourth in its 8-9 p.m. slot behind CBS, NBC and Fox.
