Polaroid Introducing Conventional Film: Polaroid Corp. displayed its first conventional film to reporters, billing it as a “one-size-fits-all” product that would work for more than 90% of the pictures that snapshooters take. Analysts said the film was fairly ordinary but could do well by exploiting consumer confusion about film speeds. Polaroid said it hopes to get as much as 5% of the conventional film market, which is about $7 billion worldwide at retail prices. Polaroid says OneFilm, which goes on sale today, relieves consumers of having to choose between film speeds, such as 100, 200, 400 and 1000. Polaroid is buying the film from Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing Co. (3M), which is making it according to Polaroid specifications.
