NICOSIA, Cyprus — Iran hanged 66 drug dealers today, raising the total number of traffickers who have been executed to 379 since a major drive to stamp out the narcotics trade was launched in January.
Today’s executions took place in Tehran, where 17 were hanged, and 19 other cities around the country, the official news agency IRNA reported. Tehran radio, monitored in Cyprus, quoted Prosecutor General Moussavi Khoeini as saying, “The executions will continue as long as even a single dealer is left in the country.”
