Prep Softball Roundup : Villa Park’s Redman Pitches a No-Hitter

Chris Redman pitched her first no-hitter of the season and had 11 strikeouts to lead Villa Park to a 1-0 victory over Orange Wednesday in a nonleague softball game at Orange.
Redman (4-5) lost her perfect game when she walked a batter in the fifth. She also had a walk in the seventh.
Villa Park scored in the fifth. Tiffanie Franco singled to start the inning. She was sacrificed to second and then replaced by pinch-runner Dawn Spencer, who scored on a dropped fly ball.
In other nonleague games:
Canyon 14, Magnolia 3 (5 innings, mercy rule)--Visiting Canyon scored six runs in the first inning and eight in the fifth. Chanele Chambrone had a double, triple and scored three runs.
San Clemente 13, Costa Mesa 1--Wendy Moon had three hits, including a triple, and two RBIs to lead host San Clemente (6-7), which had 13 hits. Nicole Naylon had nine strikeouts in five innings for the victory.
Capistrano Valley 2, Westminster 1--Jennifer Smith (7-6) had nine strikeouts and allowed four hits for visiting Capistrano Valley (8-7), which scored a run in the seventh to break a 1-1 tie.
In the Sea View League:
University 11, Newport Harbor 2--Terrie Hubbard had two hits, including a triple, and three RBIs, and Nicole Shammas had two hits and two RBIs for visiting University.
