Crash Kills Woman in Sight of Family

A woman was killed Thursday when the car she was driving went out of control and flipped on the southbound Hollywood Freeway near Strathern Street in North Hollywood.
Maria Ramirez, 26, of North Hollywood died at the scene of the 2:30 p.m. accident, California Highway Patrol Officer Bob Weaver said.
Ramirez was attempting to move into the a left lane when she noticed another car moving into that lane from her left. She swerved too abruptly and her car flipped, landing upside down on an embankment, Weaver said.
Members of Ramirez’ family were traveling in another vehicle two cars behind her when the accident occurred, Weaver said.
