At a Glance, France’s Davis Cup Team Has a Look That’s Hard to Forget

SAN DIEGO — Andre Agassi lost the last match he played in straight sets to Carl-Uwe Steeb and said afterward he didn’t know who Steeb was.
Agassi said that he had never heard of Steeb, even though the 21-year-old West German had defeated Mats Wilander in a stunning match in the Davis Cup finals last December.
So, in case Agassi needs it, here is a short scouting report on his Davis Cup opponents. And in case he can’t understand what they’re saying, it’s probably because they’re speaking French:
YANNICK NOAH--Besides you, Andre, the other guy with the funny hair. Combs it with a fan. Serves look like bullets. Delivered federal expresso.
HENRI LECONTE--Has every shot in the book, just doesn’t bring the book to every match. Left-handed, lost lots of weight. No, not Fernando Valenzuela.
GUY FORGET--Remember this Guy? Now Forget him. Sorry, couldn’t resist. Chance he won’t play because of bad knees. Also left-handed.
Remember, Leconte is the one with the beard. Don’t forget.
