So a judge has ordered the America’s Cup to be taken away from the United States and given to a country that has never won it.
It reminds this old-timer of the way Max Schmeling “won” the heavyweight boxing championship against Jack Sharkey (as a reward for being the recipient of what was perceived as a low blow.) Sharkey rectified that “loss” in his next meeting with Schmeling, reagaining the title.
The U.S. skipper may take a little longer than Sharkey did, but the next race against New Zealand will be about as one-sided.
