Northridge Notches Sweep in Softball

Char Schmitt’s eighth-inning ground out in the second game scored Anna Getherall from third base as Cal State Northridge swept Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, 5-2, 1-0, in a California Collegiate Athletic Assn. softball doubleheader Friday at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
The Lady Matadors improved to 36-12 overall, 6-0 in CCAA play.
In the first game, Pam Smith singled home Leilani Artis in the 10th inning to provide the game-winner and Erin McGuire’s single scored two more. CSUN’s Debbie Dickmann pitched a complete game for her 22nd win in 26 decisions. She struck out four and walked one.
Heather Lindstrom pitched seven innings in the second game to improve to 11-3. Dickmann pitched a flawless eighth for her third save.
