The State : 117 Arrested at Abortion Clinic
- Share via
More than 100 anti-abortion protesters were arrested when they blocked access to a San Diego medical office in a demonstration that attracted more than 300 demonstrators on both sides of the abortion issue. A force of more than 100 San Diego police officers--some using “pain compliance” holds to break up the human blockade--made 109 misdemeanor and eight felony conspiracy arrests. Among those arrested on felony charges was Will Lehman, founder of Project Rescue, a San Diego group patterned after the national anti-abortion group Operation Rescue. The demonstration took place outside a medical building that houses the offices of a physician who performs abortions.
