LONDON — Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher says she’ll shower her first grandchild with “fantastic affection” but will have to be careful not to spoil him.
Thatcher’s grandson, offspring of her son Mark and his American wife Diane, was born Feb. 28 in Dallas.
“I shall be just like any other granny, absolutely thrilled and, I suppose, with a tendency to spoil, but very conscious that one mustn’t . . . (and) with fantastic affection,” she was quoted as telling Woman’s Own magazine. “I have a great belief that it is often easier for children to talk to grandma and grandpa than it is for them to talk to their parents,” she said.
