The deaths of two horses in Saturday’s Grand National steeplechase have prompted calls for a reduction in the field and for parts of the grueling Aintree course, including the feared Beecher’s Brook fence to be reshaped.
Britain’s Royal Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Animals, which monitors the race, said it will be pressing the Jockey Club, the sport’s governing body, to redesign sections of the course.
