A parking lot attendant at a Hollywood nightclub claimed today that heavyweight champion Mike Tyson hit him in the stomach during an argument over a parking spot, authorities said.
Michael Devine, 33, walked into the Hollywood Division station about 1:45 a.m. and filed a battery complaint, police spokeswoman Margie Reid said. Detectives planned to interview Tyson late today. They had no independent confirmation the boxer had been involved, Reid said.
According to his complaint, three men in a white Mercedes-Benz drove into the parking lot of The Palace nightclub and parked in the owner’s parking space. Devine approached the driver and told him he couldn’t park there. During the argument that followed, the passenger whom Devine identified as Tyson “struck the victim in the stomach with the back of his hand,” Reid said. The three men then continued into the club.
Devine did not require medical attention. Reid said.
