An American student in China is in critical condition after being attacked aboard a tourist ship on the Yangtze River, the People’s Daily said. Derron Craft, 23, from Bozeman, Mont., was beaten on the head and neck by unknown assailants Saturday morning while he was asleep in a second-class cabin that he shared with another American student, the paper said. Craft, a student at the Beijing Foreign Languages Institute, was rushed to a nearby hospital in Shishou, in Hubei province, and was later taken to a larger facility in Wuhan. Police are investigating the case, the paper said.
