More than 1,000 policemen will be on duty today in Guadalajara for a concert by British rock star Rod Stewart to try to prevent violence that occurred earlier this week during his performances in other cities in Mexico. As some 100,000 people pour into Jalisco Stadium this afternoon, they will be checked for knives, bottles and alcoholic beverages. On Monday, about 20 people attending Stewart’s concert in Queretaro, northwest of Mexico City, were reported injured in confrontations with police. On Sunday, about 25 people suffered minor injuries when police tried unsuccessfully to stop hundreds of fans without tickets who forced their way into a stadium in the northern industrial city of Monterrey.
