Carter Hawley Hale Stores Inc., Los Angeles, has appointed Robert J. Rieland as president and chief executive of the company’s Thalhimer Bros. Inc. division. Rieland previously was president and chief executive of Richmond-based Miller & Rhoads Inc. He succeeds Michael C. Weisberg, who will be working on special assignments for the corporation. Thalhimers operates 24 department stores in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
