U.S. Firm Wins Trade Fight: Sammi Corp., a Korean-based producer of stainless steel kitchenware, conspired to restrain trade and injured a U.S. competitor by attempting to monopolize the market, according to a federal district court jury. The jury awarded the plaintiff--Vollrath Co., a kitchenware maker based in Sheboygan, Wis.--about $10.1 million in damages. Vollrath contended that a U.S. subsidiary of Sammi sold stainless steel bowls and steamers for less than the cost of production as part of an effort to eliminate competition.
