Lakewood Ranked No. 1 in Prep Baseball

Lakewood High School’s baseball team is ranked No. 1 in the latest CIF Southern Section sportswriters’ 5-A poll.
The Lancers have a 13-2 won-lost record after losing 6-3 Monday night to 10th-ranked Millikan High School of Long Beach. Millikan is 11-5 and has won eight straight.
Other top Southeast/Long Beach area prep teams are Cerritos, ranked third in 4-A; Artesia, third in 3-A; El Rancho, fourth in 3-A; California, eighth in 3-A; Valley Christian, eighth in 2-A; and Leffingwell Christian, first in Small Schools.
