Chalmers Johnson, a longtime Asian affairs scholar now at the UC San Diego Graduate School of International Relations and Pacific Studies, has been named to the school’s newly endowed Rohr Chair in Pacific International Relations.
The endowment was established last fall by San Diego-based Rohr Industries.
“This significant appointment is a direct reflection of the high regard in which Chalmers Johnson is held by . . . the entire academic community at UCSD,” Chancellor Richard C. Atkinson said.
Johnson joined the graduate school’s faculty in August after 26 years at UC Berkeley, and he has written often on Asian political and economic affairs.
