Four-time Grammy winner Lalo Schifrin, who has written more than 100 scores for film and television, including “Mission: Impossible” and “Dirty Harry,” has been named music director/conductor of the Glendale Symphony Orchestra. “I want to add an international flavor and avoid doing two pieces by composers of the same nationality in one concert,” Schifrin said Thursday. He said he plans to push the symphony in a new direction, away from the pops of the last few years and toward more classical music. Schifrin, who has frequently been a guest conductor for the Glendale orchestra, is the 10th music/director conductor in the group’s 65 years.
