Coca-Cola Co.: The Atlanta firm reported first-quarter earnings of $260 million, up 23% from a year ago. Sales rose 6% to $2 billion. The results were attributed to a 7% increase in soft drinks sales worldwide and a 31% advance in chilled orange juice volume due partly to Minute Maid Premium Choice and its new 96-ounce family size.
