THE PREPS : Servite’s Derek Brown to Skip All-Star Game
- Share via
Servite High School running back Derek Brown, who set the Orange County single-season rushing record with 2,301 yards last season, has decided not to play in the Orange County All-Star football game, according to North Coach John Barnes.
“We called all the players or their coaches to find out who wanted to play in the game and the Servite athletic director said that Derek would not being playing,” Barnes said. “He didn’t give any reason. I guess Derek just didn’t want to play.
Brown broke former Edison star Kerwin Bell’s mark of 2,226 yards set in 1979. Brown also scored 30 touchdowns, including kickoff returns of 92 and 93 yards in the Southern Section Division I playoffs. He could not be reached.
The full team is scheduled to be announced Saturday.
