Angela Burnham of Oxnard Rio Mesa High School, Track and Field News’ female prep athlete of the year in 1988, said she will attend UCLA next fall.
The defending State champion in the 100 and 200 meters, Burnham chose UCLA over USC and Texas and is expected to inform UCLA women’s Coach Bobby Kersee of her decision today.
Burnham set a national age-16 record of 11.28 seconds in the 100 meters last year and ran 23.45 in the 200. She advanced to the semifinals of the 100 in last year’s Olympic Trials at Indianapolis.
