Pastor, Woman Drown During River Baptism

CAPE TOWN, South Africa — A pastor and a young woman he was baptizing drowned in a river as scores of worshipers looked on, the newspaper Die Burger reported Monday.
Nelolitha Mapatsela, 26, panicked when Pastor Payi submerged her head and pulled him under. Payi, 32, freed himself and dived back in to search for the woman. Divers later recovered the bodies of the two, who belonged to the Church of Zion in the black township of Khayelitsha near Cape Town.
