Following are capsule reviews of today’s screenings in the American Film Institute Los Angeles International Film Festival at the Cineplex Odeon Century Plaza Cinemas:
‘Dance of the Damned’
United States, 1989, 90 minutes
8:20 p.m.
An elegant, poignant and distinctive vampire film from one of producer Roger Corman’s current and talented film makers, Katt Shea Ruben. Cyril O’Reilly’s coolly contemporary vampire and Starr Andreeff’s seen-it-all stripper skirmish and parry in the course of a single and increasingly ominous night in O’Reilly’s high-tech house. Not at all the usual Corman exploitation fare.
