Following are capsule reviews of a selection of the screenings today and Sunday at the American Film Institute Los Angeles International Film Festival at the Cineplex Odeon Cenutry Plaza Cinemas.
SATURDAY
‘Hurry, He’s Coming’
Czechoslovakia, 1986, 84 minutes 4:30 p.m. Typicallly sly, wry Czech comedy, centering on the novel but risky solution one young family takes to escape their cramped apartment. You could read political implications into their plight, but director Dusan Rapos and his writers are primarily interested in having some fun with the foibles of human nature. The result is pleasant and amusing but also a bit slack.
