Brazil Floods Leave 46,000 Homeless

RIO DE JANEIRO — Heavy rains and floods have left 46,000 people homeless in Ceara state in northeastern Brazil, civil defense authorities said Friday.
The Jaguaribe River, one of Ceara’s main rivers, overflowed its banks and left seven feet of water in fields and towns in nine municipalities.
