Cuba Promises Jobs to All Veterans of Angola

HAVANA — All Cuban veterans of the Angolan civil war have been guaranteed a job upon their return from the African country, the official daily newspaper Granma said Saturday.
Under peace agreements signed in December, Cuba pledged to withdraw all of its 50,000 troops from Angola by mid-1991. More than 5,000 soldiers have already returned home.
Granma said a special program was set up by the Communist Party, the Armed Revolutionary Forces and municipalities to ensure that those without work on their return are provided with a job or enrolled in training courses.
