Coach Terry Donahue, UCLA’s football coach, said competition for starting quarterback is between third-year sophomore Jimmy Bonds and second-year freshman Bret Johnson, after the team’s third spring practice scrimmage.
Bonds completed seven of 12 passes for 95 yards, including a 21-yard touchdown pass play; Johnson completed four of nine for 27 yards.
