Du Pont Picks Woolard as Its New Chairman

Edgar S. Woolard Jr. has been named chairman and chief executive of Du Pont Co. Woolard succeeds Richard E. Heckert, who is retiring. Heckert becomes chairman of the finance committee, succeeding Edward G. Jefferson.
Elwood P. Blanchard continues as vice chairman and becomes a member of the finance committee.
Woolard, 55, also was appointed chairman of the policy-making executive committee at the Wilmington, Del., company. He was elected vice chairman in 1985 and president and chief operating officer in 1987.
