Sheriff’s detectives were looking Wednesday for two men who shot a Fallbrook man after a failed robbery attempt, authorities said.
Francisco Jesus Mateo, 34, was shot in the shoulder about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday after the armed men burst into his home in the 500 block of Rancho Camino Road, beat him and demanded money, Sgt. Danny Goodrich said.
Mateo was in stable condition Wednesday at Palomar Hospital.
Mateo lay wounded for an hour until his brother-in-law came home and summoned help, Goodrich said.
