Re Howard Rosenberg’s “Out of Africa, Live Coverage of Nature in the Wild,” April 19:
So now we will have “live” kills on the Discovery Channel and, according to BBC producer Robin Hellier, “We assume most people like to see real action--kills.”
He implies that if a suitable kill doesn’t happen when it suits the program, a taped kill will be shown. “An awful lot of the kills are fairly lengthy and unpleasant,” he continues, saying he has to decide how much blood and gore to show.
With this live killfest added to the already crowded nature field of bloody survival, no wonder our kids grow up mutilating animals and soon graduate to humans.
